 Air cleaners and smokers Question: I am considering sharing a house with 2 smokers. Smoke has always bothered me and I am concerned that the smell and the smoke will be too much to handle. I am curious to know how well the Honeywell/Enviracaire portable cleaners work in terms of removing cigarette smoke from the air. My stay will be approximately 6 months but I don't want it to be too painful - especially since winter is coming and the house will be closed! I would really appreciate your advice. Answer: Honeywell Enviracaire air cleaners are very effective at removing cigarette smoke from the air, however, they may not remove all of the actual smell. The Enviracaire has a charcoal pre-filter that helps to remove odors. The recommended replacement time for a pre-filter is every 3 months.
